The upcoming film will tell the story from the founding and development of the Ukrainian Navy during the 1917-1921 Ukrainian War of Independence, the restoration of the Ukrainian Navy, the “cold war” with the Soviet Union’s Black Sea Fleet in 1992-1996, to the annexation of Crimea and the modernization and reform of the Ukrainian Navy in the new reality of hybrid warfare.

It is extremely difficult to adapt history to the language of cinema. Our main task in creating the upcoming film will be to convey the feeling of energy of the sea, its volatility and majesty at the same time, which a sailor lives with every day. We have a unique opportunity to film the reforms and radical changes of our Ukrainian Navy, its gradual restructuring and constant daily work, in the face of growing threats in the basins of both our seas, Black and Azov. Against the backdrop of contemporary events, a retrospective of more than a century of history and naval traditions intertwined with the constant struggle for our own identity and right to self-determination will unfold.
